Gathering of Women
Lazarus Ministry It has always been a ministry among Christians for the dead and for the bereaved. That is to bury the dead and to pray for the living and departed. The Lazarus Ministry is named after the brother of Mary and Martha whom Jesus raised from the dead. The members of this ministry offer those who mourn their gift of Presence and Time at all funeral liturgies. Lazarus Ministry Members are people of our parish sitting right next to you. They will provide support along with the priest and represent the whole parish at the death of one of our own. The Lazarus Ministry is open to anyone. There are many facets to the ministry.
Letter From the Archbishop I am pleased to report to you on the continuing important work being accomplished throughout the Archdiocese of Newark with the New Energies Project. I initiated the project in 2002 when I asked the Task Force on Parishes to study the needs and realities of the Archdiocese and to make recommendations regarding the future of parish structures according to a specific timetable.
Two years ago I spoke of the recommendations not being the final word, but rather the start of the conversation and response phase of the project. I asked the 48 immediately involved parishes in the First Round to study the recommendations and to respond by accepting them or designing new possibilities which they thought more appropriate. Now we also have recommendations and responses from more than 100 Second Round parishes in Cycles 1 and 2. I am pleased that our parishes have both taken seriously the Task Force recommendations and been creative in suggesting new ideas or possibilities.

MOMS Ministry of Mothers Sharing
Opportunities for Liturgical Ministries Since the time of Vatican II, the Christian lay faithful have contributed greatly to the spiritual heritage of the Church, enlarging our understanding of what it means to be called to holiness, that is, to be called to "ever more intimate union with Christ" (Catechism of the Catholic church, no.2014). Their union with Christ is evident in a deepened awareness of the spiritual dimensions of life.
Ministry is the way in which the Church continues what Christ began and still intends, namely, the salvation of humanity and the transformation of the world. All baptized and confirmed Christians receive a call and gifts enabling them to participate in this mission. When lay people carry out Christ’s work as priest, prophet, and king in their own proper way through public activity authorized by the Church, we call this lay ministry.

Sacraments
"The purpose of the sacraments is to sanctify men, to build up the Body of Christ and, finally, to give worship to God. Because they are signs they also instruct. They not only presuppose faith, but by words and objects they also nourish, strengthen, and express it."

Children's Liturgy of the Word by
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is first and foremost a worship experience. This is a concerned and sensitive way to enable children to participate in the formal worship experience of the community. The celebrations of these liturgies are intended to form children in the liturgical language of the church, to nourish and guide their spiritual growth, and to immerse them in the Word in ways that are understandable to them.
