holyspiritwindowMay 31, 2020 is Pentecost Sunday and the last day of the Easter Season. I hope this letter about Pentecost Sunday will help you understand that :

  1. Pentecost signifies the beginnings of the church, its birthday.
  2. It celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to guide the Church then and forever.

The word Pentecost comes from the (Latin) prefix “penta” and the (Greek) “pente” meaning 5. It takes place 50 days after Easter and is the end of the Easter season. This is the day the Apostles received the power of the Holy Spirit and the gift of courage in order to share the Good News of Jesus with the world. The Holy Spirit would help them remember what Jesus had said and done. He would also give them strength to tell others about him. He also gave them the ability to forgive people’s sins. We should pray that world leaders develop the gifts that they have received from the Spirit, and act with love , kindness, and peace, and work together for the good of all.

Parish News and Updates

We are often reminded by our Holy Father Pope Francis and Sacred Scripture that in order to love one another we must share the blessings which God has provided to us. In Acts, Chapter 4, we learn that the early church shared all possessions with one another so that the Apostles and early Christian communities could fully proclaim “the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them.”
We are called to similarly share what is granted to us by God and return it to Him so that not one of our brothers and sisters goes without: without the gift of faith; without the essential human needs; and without a personal relationship with Our Lord. We are called to Share God’s Blessings, and when we do, we find freedom and joy in proclaiming the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, just as the Apostles did over 2,000 years ago!
